Security & strategy expert weighs in on what President Trump called a ‘little excursion’ into Iran

President Donald Trump cast the war with Iran as a “little excursion” during a retreat for House Republicans, portraying the ongoing U.S. bombing campaign as a necessity.

Trump told a group of Republicans: “We took a little excursion because we felt we had to do that to get rid of some evil, and I think it’s going to be a short-term excursion.”

But he stopped short of offering a timeline to end the war.

The president’s eagerness to put a short time limit on the war comes as polls suggest there is little public appetite for an extended conflict.

Bailey Galicia, assistant director at the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, joined us on The Morning Show to discuss the war with Iran, how long it might last and what comes next.
