A federal lawsuit filed by the Public Integrity Project seeks to block the UFC Freedom 250 event slated for the White House.
The legal challenge claims the Department of the Interior improperly permitted a private sporting event on public property and failed to obtain Congressional authorization for the construction of “The Claw” arena and other facilities.
The argument adds that the event does not qualify under a temporary rule for “America 250” celebrations because it is being run by the UFC rather than executive agencies.
Richard Pierce, a professor of law at George Washington University, joined us on The Morning Show and says National Park Service regulations strictly limit private use of the Capital’s national monument spaces, but whether it is legally binding is a major question.
