Elections law expert explains DOJ’s role in midterm elections oversight

President Donald Trump’s Department of Justice sued to block Alaska’s Senate election certification. And Attorney General Todd Blanche left the door open on whether the DOJ would intervene in other states’ midterm election verification processes, saying there are hypothetical “scenarios” in which it could block the certification of votes.

Blanche said earlier this month the DOJ plans to send 1,000 election monitors to polling places in every state on Election Day.

Michael Morley, an elections law expert at Florida State University, joined us on The Morning Show to discuss whether or not the DOJ is overstepping its bounds.
