Woman charged with DUI manslaughter in March crash on I-295

Lori Anne Dampier was charged with causing a March 2017 crash on I-295 at Duval Road that killed one man and injured four others.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol has charged 43-year-old Lori Anne Dampier with several charges after troopers determined she caused a March 10 crash on Interstate 295 at Duval Road that resulted in the death of another driver.

Lori Anne Dampier has been charged with vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter, DUI with serious injury and DUI with property damage. The crash claimed the life of 45-year-old Brett David Steeves, of Whitby, Ontario, and injured four others.

According to the accident report, Dampier was driving a Ford F250, traveling north on I-295 when the pickup rear-ended a tractor-trailer. The impact sent the pickup across the median into the southbound lanes, where it struck a Honda CR-V, which struck a guardrail, then was hit by another tractor-trailer.

Dampier was arrested Tuesday and is being held on $140,012 bond.
