2 locations open for recycling, shredding items

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The city of Jacksonville along with UltraShred Technologies, Iron Mountain, Shred It, and Urban Mining are hosting the sixth annual America Recycles Day at two locations on Tuesday.

One is at Adventure Landing on Beach Boulevard, the other at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. Adventure Landing will be open from 10 to 5 p.m. and the Prime Osborn Center will be open from noon to 5 p.m.

Organizers says they encourage you to make sure your recyclables are Empty, Clean & Dry. These three simple steps to ensure that your goods are repurposed as intended:

1. Empty: Remove any remaining food or liquid contents from your recyclable item before placing it in a recycling container; 
2. Clean: Lightly rinse the recyclable item to remove any remaining residue; and
3. Dry: Gently shake out excess water or let the recyclable item air-dry before placing it in a recycling container.
