Passion 4 Pets: Chowder needs a furever home and a Pancake Breakfast supporting St. Augustine Humane Society

Chowder is a three year-old Rottie mix with a wonderful personality. He’s smart, affectionate, friendly, and spirited, with just a touch of attitude. Chowder was picked up as a stray a few months ago. He is well behaved around people and is not negatively influenced by other dogs. If you’re looking for a loyal, energetic companion Chowder is your guy!

Chowder is being called the “not yet” pet. After Chowder was picked up by animal control, his initial exam showed that he was heartworm positive. Heartworms is 100% treatable. It involves a two month process that is best done in a home environment outside of the noisy and stressful environment of the shelter. Chowder is scheduled to begin his treatment for heartworms on March 17, 2026. He is a lucky dog because the St. Johns Animal Shelter will cover the costs for all the necessary medicine to treat Chowder’s heartworm condition. Chowder needs a home and an environment where he can have the time to make it through his treatment.

Chowder will also be featured, along with dogs from Swamp Haven at the Applebee’s second annual pancake breakfast on March 14, 2026 at the Applebee’s in St. Augustine. The breakfast is a St. Augustine Humane fundraising, ticketed event. Tickets are available at WWW.SAHS-GIVE.COM. It will be a morning of delicious food, fun, and community spirit. Who knows you may even win one or more of the door prizes.
