Kingfish Tournament off to a good start on Day 1

When the scales opened the boats were lining up, ready to bring in the catch.

Jacksonville, FL – The 39th Greater Jacksonville Kingfish tournament hit the water on Thursday. They began weighing fish for day 1 at around 3:30 Thursday afternoon.

After a record-setting Junior Angler saw 141 fish weighed, you had to wonder if it was a good sign that the Kingfish were out there--or, if there were any more left!

When the scales opened the boats were lining up, ready to bring in the catch. 

Before a lightning delay, the leading fish belonged to "Side Job" captained by Chris Jonson Jonsson who hauled in a Kingfish weighing 49.79 pounds. 

Cody Putnal on "One Shot" landed a 44.21 pounder. Two more boats brought 40 pounders to the dock. Russell Stuart on Seafood Kitchen registered a 42.10-pound king mackerel and Matt Joseph on "Outta Line" weighed a 41.61-pound fish. 

.A total of 44 fish over 30 pounds were weighed. 149 boats brought fish to be weighed. Taylor Johnson on Side Job is leading the Lady Angler after the first day with a 42.64 pounder. They'll all be back at it tomorrow.
