Varsity 4 News4JAX Super 10 rankings
Rank, (previous), school, record last year, classification
1. (1) Raines (3-0, Class 3A)
Coaches poll current ranking (previous ranking): 1 (1).
Last week: Off. This week: at Riverside (1-4), 6:30 p.m.
Why they’re here: The Vikings gave up some ground to St. Augustine in the coaches rankings, but they’re still No. 1 in both. I don’t expect Raines to see a significant challenge until the state semifinals.
2. (2) St. Augustine (5-0, Class 4A)
Coaches poll current ranking (previous ranking): 2 (2)
Last week: Beat Nease, 28-24. This week: vs. Columbia (5-0).
Why they’re here: It’s difficult to not move the Yellow Jackets up after beating fifth-ranked Nease. They’ve also got a win over Bolles this season. A win over Columbia would make the case even stronger for St. Augustine to return to the top spot.
3. (4) Bolles (4-1, Class 2A)
Coaches poll current ranking (previous ranking): 3 (5)
Last week: Beat Oakleaf, 38-6. This week: at Baldwin (4-1), 6:30 p.m.
Why they’re here: After giving up 40 in a Week 3 shootout loss to St. Augustine, the Bulldogs have outscored Bishop Kenny and Oakleaf by a combined 74-6. I’d say the defense got the message.
4. (7) Columbia (5-0, Class 4A)
Coaches poll current ranking (previous ranking): 6 (7)
Last week: Beat Trinity Christian, 27-20. This week: at (2) St. Augustine (5-0).
Why they’re here: The big jump of the week. Massive showdown this week against the top-ranked Yellow Jackets in what could be a game of the year contender.
5. (5) Nease (4-1, Class 6A)
Coaches poll current ranking (previous ranking): 4 (3)
Last week: Lost to St. Augustine, 28-24. This week: at Gainesville Buchholz (4-1).
Why they’re here: The Panthers gave St. Augustine all it could handle last week, but lost their first regular season game since the 2023 season. And this week starts their District 3-6A slate. Buchholz has become a perennial power, reaching the state semifinals the last four seasons.
6. (6) Mandarin (4-1, Class 6A)
Coaches poll current ranking (previous ranking): 5 (6)
Last week: Lost to IMG Academy, 57-7. This week: at First Coast (3-1), 6:30 p.m.
Why they’re here: The Mustangs were run off the field last week in a blowout loss to national power IMG. They’re poised to get back on track this week against the Buccaneers.
7. (3) Oakleaf (4-1, Class 6A)
Coaches poll current ranking (previous ranking): 7 (4)
Last week: Lost to Bolles, 38-6. This week: at Fletcher (4-1), 6:30 p.m.
Why they’re here: Disappointing showing for the Knights last week. They got taken apart by Bolles. They’ve got another tough defense on deck in the Senators.
8. (9) Bradford (4-1, Class 2A)
Coaches poll current ranking (previous ranking): 8 (9)
Last week: Beat Gainesville Eastside, 28-7. This week: at Keystone Heights (0-4), 7:30 p.m.
Why they’re here: The Tornadoes front loaded their schedule with the challenging games, and should be able to coast into the state playoffs from here. The back half of the schedule is light.
9. (8) White (4-0, Class 4A)
Coaches poll current ranking (previous ranking): 9 (8)
Last week: Beat Parker, 54-14. This week: vs. Merritt Island (3-2), 6:30 p.m.
Why they’re here: The Commanders really have a shot at running the table. They finally get a challenging game this week. Their opponents so far are a combined 1-12.
10. (10) Beachside (4-1, Class 5A)
Coaches poll current ranking (previous ranking): 10 (10)
Last week: Beat Bishop Kenny, 35-31. This week: Off.
Why they’re here: With QB Eddie Jordan back under center, the Barracudas capable of putting up crazy numbers each week. He passed for a school record 535 yards last week.
