The unofficial start of the high school football season arrived on Wednesday with the Baker's Sports/Jaguars Prep high school media day launching area teams into the new season. With practices set to start next week, media day has often served as the point where players and coaches begin their quest for the coming season.

Late comeback leads to heartbreak for University Christian in Class 1M state semifinal
A UC desperation pass was picked off at the goal line with no time left, sending the Marauders (12-1) into the state championship game with a 34-29 victory over the Christians (11-2). So, Central Catholic will meet Chaminade-Madonna for the title, while UC’s season is finished.

High school football playoffs: Baker County, Baldwin set for 2nd-round rematch
Among the playoff games on Friday, Baldwin hosts Baker County in the 2S regional semi-final. The meeting is a rematch of a game won by the Indians 30-7 earlier in the season. That game was part of a historic season for Baldwin, who had not beaten Baker County since 1968 and had never won a district championship in football. They accomplished both feats this season.
