Fletcher earns top seed for new Florida Invitational tournament

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Fletcher missed the state series playoff bracket but earned the top seed in the large division of the newly established Florida Invitational Tournament.

The Senators (6-4) will host Land O’ Lakes (5-5) in the FIT 2 division, which consists of the top 16 teams in Classes 4A-7A who missed out on the main state series bracket. Also making the FIT 2 field were Bartram Trail (3-7), Matanzas (7-3) and First Coast (5-5). They are all in the northern bracket in the 16-team field.

In the FIT 1 division (Class 1A-3A), Jackson, Wolfson and Palatka all qualified. The Wolfpack will travel to face Palatka in the opening round.

First-round games are scheduled for Nov. 13.
