1. (1) Bolles (10-4, Class 3A)
Quality win: Nease, Orange Park, Ribault, Tocoi Creek, Valor Christian
Notable: The Bulldogs beat previously unbeaten Northwood Academy, SC (13-1) and then hammered Porter-Gaud, SC (55-27) since our last Super 6. Bolles has won five straight. They’ve got Providence on Tuesday night. Evie Freeman (13.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg) and C Terrell McCoy (12.5 ppg, 6.9 rpg), Presley Norman (10.2 ppg) lead the area’s top-ranked team.
2. (2) Bishop Kenny (14-1, Class 4A)
Quality wins: Dillard, Episcopal, Greater Atlanta Christian, Orlando First Academy, San Jose Prep, Wildwood.
Glance: Kenny stretched its winning streak to 12 games with easy wins over the Christmas break. Their best game came in a 54-49 slugfest against San Jose Prep. Oakleaf on Friday is up next. Kathleen Crawley (17.8 ppg, 5.7 rpg) is leading the way for Kenny. I get the comparisons on why Kenny isn’t No. 1, but the level of competition hasn’t been nearly as challenging as it has for No. 1 Bolles.
3. (3) Tocoi Creek (11-4, Class 6A)
Quality wins: Carruthers, Ga., Hilliard, Jackson, Rickards.
Notable: The Toros went 1-1 since our last Super 6, beating 8-4 Carruthers (59-46) and losing to an 11-4 Archer, Ga. team (65-38). They’ve got Ridgeview (Thursday) and Bartram Trail (Friday) up this week. Audrey Beyer (19.1 ppg, 5.2 rpg) and Gabi Iturralde (12.1 ppg) have been excellent for the Toros.
4. (4) Providence (9-3, Class 2A)
Quality wins: Episcopal, Keys Gate, Nease, Spruce Creek, Trinity Catholic, Western.
Notable: The Stallions belted Lincoln (68-50) in their lone game since our last Super 6 to move their winning streak to seven games. They’ve got No. 1 Bolles next on Tuesday. Julianna Baskin (13.7 ppg, 10.3 rpg), Kasey Davey (13.4 ppg, 8.1 rpg) and Kennedy Loux (12.3 ppg) are leading Providence.
5. (5) Ponte Vedra (12-3, Class 5A)
Quality wins: Bishop Snyder, Episcopal, Lee County, Ga., Nease, Orange Park, White
Notable: The Sharks went 2-1 since our last Super 6, beating Venice (59-40) and Kaukauna, Wisc. (44-39), and losing to Wheeler, Ga. (61-42). They return to action this week against Fleming Island (Wednesday), Beachside (Friday) and Fletcher (Saturday). Jocelyn Hoffmann (17.5 ppg) and Audra Davis (10.7 ppg) are leading the way for the Sharks.
6. (6) Orange Park (11-3, Class 5A)
Quality wins: Bartram Trail, Beachside, Leon, Ribault, White.
Notable: The Raiders blasted Lincoln (82-57) in their only game since our last Super 6. They’ve got a very good Creekside team on deck Tuesday. Trinity Dinkins (13.1 ppg, 9.8 rpg), Ella Crowe (12.2 ppg, 7.8 rpg), Gabby Mallory (11.7 ppg, 5.8 rpg) are leading the Raiders.
