Rank, school, record, classification

T1. (T1) Impact Christian (18-2, Class 1A)

Quality wins: Baldwin, Ga., Coral Glades, Creekside, Episcopal, Fleming Island, Jackson, Marian (Texas), Potter’s House, Raines, St. Johns (Texas), San Jose Prep, Village (Texas).

Notable: The Lions handled a solid San Jose Prep (86-64) since our last Super 6. They’ve got a good test in Tampa Catholic on Friday and another good one against Ponte Vedra next week (Jan. 27). Ronald Clark (14.6 ppg), Frandy Perez (11.7 ppg, 5.8 rpg), Jeremiah Jones (11 ppg) and Mechack Olungu (10.5 ppg, 9.3 rpg) are leading the way for Impact.

T1. (T1) Jackson (20-1, Class 3A)

Quality wins: Bolles, Fleming Island, Florida High, Godby, Leon, Mainland, Northside Christian, Ponte Vedra, Providence, Raines, Ribault, Rock National, Sandalwood, University Christian.

Notable: The Tigers clobbered Riverside (81-44) and University Christian (78-52) since our last Super 6. They’ve got Wolfson on Tuesday night in the Gateway Conference tournament, and it’s an event they should win on their homecourt on Friday night. Javion Davis (15.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg) and Donald Hackworth (15.3 ppg, 6.4 rpg) are leading the charge.

3. (3) Providence (18-3, Class 2A)

Quality wins: Baldwin, Ga., Bartow, Bishop Kenny, Bolles, Coral Gables, Impact Christian, Northside Christian, Raines, St. Augustine, Tocoi Creek, University Christian, Windermere.

Notable: The Stallions are built for the long haul now, and may be the area’s strongest threat to win a state title. They were already good with William Stewart (14.9 ppg, 6.5 rpg), Marvin Christie (14.1 ppg, 6.1 rpg), Ryan Gornto (11.8 ppg) and Luke Mayberry (8.7 ppg, 5.3 apg), but the Stallions re-added four-star junior wing Nolan Nelson back to the mix. Nelson was an All-News4JAX selection at Creekside last year. He transferred to Providence, but never played, instead transferring to SPIRE Academy in Ohio. He’s back at Providence now and has played big in games against Bartow and Coral Gables. Nelson is averaging 12.5 rebounds and 11.5 points. His addition makes Providence a legitimate state championship contender in 2A.

4. (4) Tocoi Creek (15-4, Class 6A)

Quality wins: Bishop Kenny, Boca Ciega, Christian Academy-Louisville (Kentucky), Episcopal, Milton, University Christian.

Notable: The Toros had no trouble with Paxon (69-45) or Bartram Trail (72-48) in games since our last Super 6. King McFadden is leading the Toros in scoring (18.4 ppg) and on the boards (5.8 rpg). Daniel Figueroa (13.1 ppg), Marc Mitchell (11.9 ppg) and Javares Rickerson (10.5 ppg) follow.

5. (5) Bishop Kenny (16-3, Class 4A)

Quality wins: Atlantic Coast, Creekside, Discovery, Nease, Ponte Vedra, Sandalwood.

Notable: The Crusaders raced past a high quality Nease team since our last Super 6 (52-37) to bounce back after a loss to Providence a week earlier. They’ve got a tough Episcopal team on Friday to round out the week.

6. (6) Episcopal (17-3, Class 3A)

Quality wins: Christ’s Church, Eagle’s View, Heathwood Hall Episcopal (SC), Lake Wales, Mount Paran Christian (Ga.), Valwood (Ga.).

Notable: The Eagles routed two lean teams, St. John Paul II (70-47) and Maclay (52-20), since our last Super 6. I’m interested in seeing what they do against Bishop Kenny on Friday night because the schedule has been extremely light on competition.
