Varsity 4 Super 6 girls basketball: San Jose Prep moves up; Bolles-BK collide on Thursday

The Varsity 4 Super 6 girls basketball rankings are published Monday's through the end of the regular season with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas. (News4JAX)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The News4JAX Super 6 girls high school basketball rankings will be published each Monday — except during the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas — through the regular season. Records are through Jan. 17.

Rank, previous, school, record, classification

1. (1) Bolles (15-4, Class 3A)

Quality win: Butler (Illinois), Creekside, Nease, Orange Park, Ponte Vedra, Providence, Ribault, Tocoi Creek, Valor Christian.

Notable: The Bulldogs continue to thunder through their schedule. They’ve racked up 10 straight wins, including quality Ws over Ponte Vedra (60-49) and Creekside (64-35) since our last Super 6. They’ve got a big one on Thursday at home against No. 2 and their biggest rival, Bishop Kenny. Evie Freeman (14.6 ppg, 4.9 rpg) and C Terrell McCoy (13.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg), Presley Norman (11.6 ppg) have been sharp the whole season.

2. (2) Bishop Kenny (19-2, Class 4A)

Quality wins: Dillard, Episcopal, Greater Atlanta Christian, Ocoee, Orlando First Academy, Howell North (Maryland), San Jose Prep, Tocoi Creek, Wildwood.

Glance: Kenny’s winning streak ended with a loss to Lincoln Park Academy (58-49), but that’s not that big of a deal. The Crusaders are a good pick to reach the state semifinals. They handled No. 3 Tocoi Creek (52-39) since our last Super 6 as well. Kathleen Crawley (17.3 ppg, 5.7 rpg) is leading the way for Kenny. Makala DesJarlais is averaging 10.2 rebounds and 8.9 points for Kenny.

3. (3) Tocoi Creek (15-5, Class 6A)

Quality wins: Beachside, Carruthers, Ga., Hilliard, Jackson, Rickards.

Notable: A 1-1 mark for the Toros since our last Super 6, a 55-50 win over Beachside and a 52-39 loss to No. 2 Bishop Kenny.. Audrey Beyer (18.9 ppg, 5.3 rpg) and Gabi Iturralde (13 ppg) are leading the Toros.

4. (6) San Jose Prep (15-7, Class 2A)

Quality wins: Bishop Snyder, Forest, Lee County (Ga.), New Hope Academy National (Maryland), NFEI (twice), Oxford (Alabama), Paxon, Ribault, St. Johns Country Day, Thomas County Central (Ga.)

Notable: The Storm stretched their winning streak to five with a 75-37 romp over a solid Ocala Forest since our last Super 6. they’ve got Yulee on Tuesday followed by No. 1 Bolles on Jan. 26. Lena Most (13.9 ppg, 5.3 rpg), Falisa White (11.2 ppg) and Mia Chandler (10.2 ppg, 9.6 rpg) are leading the Storm.

5. (4) Providence (12-5, Class 2A)

Quality wins: Episcopal, Florida High, Keys Gate, Nease, Spruce Creek, Trinity Catholic, Western.

Notable: The Stallions went 2-1 since our last Super 6, beating Creekside (59-43) and Madison County (65-24) and losing to Florida High (57-53) in a bit of a surprise. They’d just beaten Florida High by 21. Julianna Baskin (16.4 ppg, 11.1 rpg) Kasey Davey (14 ppg, 8.1 rpg) and Kennedy Loux (12.2 ppg) are leading Providence.

6. (6) Orange Park (16-4, Class 5A)

Quality wins: Bartram Trail, Beachside, Creekside, Jackson, Leon, Pensacola, Ribault, Springstead, White.

Notable: The Raiders’ winning streak ended at 12 games with a 44-38 loss to a decent Rickards squad. They bounced back with a 62-56 win over Pensacola. Trinity Dinkins (13.2 ppg, 9 rpg), Ella Crowe (12.3 ppg, 8.1 rpg), Gabby Mallory (11.3 ppg, 5.1 rpg) are leading the Raiders.
