1. (1) Clay (2-0, Class 2A)
Notable wins: White.
Glance: The Blue Devils picked up where they left off in 2025 with a pair of blowout wins. Clay thumped previously ranked White (27-0), and then laid the hammer to Gainesville (59-0). I don’t foresee a challenge for the Blue Devils until early April.
2. (2) Ponte Vedra (1-0, Class 3A)
Notable wins: Sandalwood.
Glance: The Sharks rumbled past Sandalwood 27-6 in their opener. Up next is a dangerous Fletcher team on Thursday night.
3. (3) Fleming Island (0-1, Class 2A)
Notable wins: N/A.
Glance: The Golden Eagles dropped a 12-6 game to a quality New Smyrna Beach in their only game thus far. They’re not going to get a good challenge until early March against Bartram Trail and Paxon.
4. (4) Bradford (0-0, Class 1A)
Notable wins: N/A.
Glance: The Tornadoes open their season on Friday against Florida High.
5. (NR) Paxon (1-0, Class 2A)
Notable win: Stanton.
Glance: I think the Golden Eagles took it personally not opening the season ranked. They went out and crushed Stanton 21-0 in their opener. Next big game comes March 3 against Bradford.
6. (5) University Christian (1-0, Class 1A)
Notable wins: None.
Glance: The Christians hammered KIPP Bold City in their opener. They’ve got an unbeaten Bolles team up on Wednesday night that should be a good test for both teams.
