JACKSONVILLE – The Bishop Kenny girls soccer team is headed to the state championship game.

Stella Jones scored a pair of first-half goals and the Crusaders beat Naples Barron Collier 3-2 in the Class 4A state semifinals on Thursday afternoon at Spec Martin Stadium in DeLand.

Kenny (19-3) will face powerhouse Plantation American Heritage (17-0-1) for the championship on Saturday morning at 10. The Crusaders won their lone state championship in 2020. Heritage is a monster. The Patriots have won the last three state championships and are unbeaten in their last 30 matches.

Jones scored two unassisted goals just five minutes apart to put Kenny in front 2-1 at half. Cate Petre added a goal nine minutes in to the second half to put the Crusaders in front 3-1. Caroline Coughlin had the assist on Petre’s goal.
