Beachside delivers Northeast Florida’s first boys soccer title since 2017

DELAND, Fla. – The Beachside Barracudas boys soccer team had never advanced past the second round of the playoffs before this season. Now, in just the program’s fourth year, the Barracudas are state champions.

Beachside defeated Pembroke Pines Charter 2-1 in overtime to win the Class 5A state title. It marks Northeast Florida’s first boys soccer championship since Fleming Island captured a title in 2017.

Pembroke Pines Charter struck first, scoring in the 19th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Beachside answered six minutes later when Austin Kern converted a free kick to tie the match before halftime. The score remained even through the end of regulation.

In overtime, Davi Martins delivered the decisive moment, converting a penalty kick to secure the championship and etch his name in school history.
