JU went to the tournament for the only time in 2017-18 under head coach Yolett McPhee-McGuin. This time, it comes under third-year head coach Special Jennings.
It took a tough finish for the Dolphins to move on.
Mya Williams drained a 3-pointer with 10 seconds left to get Austin Peay within 64-63. But Makiya Miller was fouled on the ensuing inbounds pass and knocked down a couple free throws. JaNiah Newwell’s final 3-point with a second to go was no good and the celebration was on.
Priscilla Williams led JU with 16 points, followed by Comari Mitchell and Carmaya Bowman with 10 points apiece.
