Rank, Previous, School, Record, Classification

1. (2) Bishop Snyder (10-1, Class 2A)

Quality wins: Baldwin, Central (Ala.), Farragut (Tennessee), Fernandina Beach, Morgan County (Ga.), Newnan (Ga.), Providence, Sandalwood, Suwannee.

Notable: The Cardinals become the third team to slide up to No. 1 this season after they clubbed Providence (12-2) and Farragut (11-0) since our last Super 6. They’ve got a tough South Walton up on Friday night. Cole Dennis (.452) is leading the offense and has four homers. He’s also 5-0 on the mound with an 0.00 ERA (49 Ks in 28 IP).

2. (4) Trinity Christian (9-3, Class 2A)

Quality wins: Beachside, Lowndes (Ga.), North Marion, Richmond Hill (Ga.), St. Johns Country Day, Suwannee, Tocoi Creek, University Christian.

Notable: The Conquerors went 1-1 since our last Super 6, beating St. Johns Country Day (10-8) and losing 7-4 to a 12-2 South Walton. Not a bad loss there. Gage Petrutz (.474, HR, 13 RBI) has been swinging it, but the bats have been really cool for the Conquerors. Aiden Arnett (.378) and Parker Loew (.317) join Petrutz as the only Trinity players hitting .300 or better.

3. (1) St. Johns Country Day (8-3, Class 1A)

Quality wins: Beachside, Providence, Suwannee, Trinity Christian, University Christian.

Notable: Since starting 8-0 and beating Trinity Christian, the Spartans have lost three straight. That included a 10-8 loss to Trinity in the second game of their series clash. Now, those three losses have come to the Conquerors, a 16-0 blowout to a 12-3 Bennett (Houston, Texas) and 8-6 to unbeaten IMG Academy. So, yes, three consecutive losses is jarring, but not all losses are created equal.

4. (3) Creekside (11-3, Class 7A)

Quality wins: Bartram Trail, Beachside, Bolles, Clay, North Marion, St. Joseph, Tocoi Creek, Trinity Christian.

Notable: The Knights have come back to earth over the last week, going 2-2 since our last Super 6. They finished a sweep of Bartram Trail (4-3) and topped Tocoi Creek (7-3). The losses came to Nease (4-2) and Buchholz (5-0). The loss to 5-7 Nease was a bit of a surprise, but Buchholz is very, very good.

5. (NR) Fernandina Beach (10-2, Class 3A)

Quality wins: Bishop Kenny, Sandalwood, Union County, West Nassau.

Notable: The Pirates haven’t faced the rugged teams like the four ahead of them in the Super 6, but they have been very good. Their local losses are to No. 1 Bishop Snyder (2-0) and a 10-win Bolles (1-0). Trace Farmer has kept his average way up this season (.515)

6. (NR) Sandalwood (10-3, Class 7A)

Quality wins: Baldwin, Bishop Kenny, Christ’s Church, Mandarin, West Nassau, St. Joseph.

Notable: Been a solid start for the Saints. Losses have been close (3-1, 2-0, 2-1) to quality teams (Providence, Fernandina Beach, Bishop Snyder, respectively). They’ve also got a win over Baldwin, which I used as the separator this week in going between the Saints and Bolles for this spot. Bane Barker has belted five homers and is hitting .405. Trent Baskins is 4-0 with a 2.07 ERA to lead the staff.
