1. (2) Creekside (21-4, Class 7A)
Quality wins: Bartram Trail, Beachside, Bishop Kenny, Bolles, Clay, Hagerty, North Marion, St. Johns Country Day, St. Joseph, Tocoi Creek, Trinity Christian, West Orange, Windermere (twice).
Notable: The Knights beat Bishop Kenny (2-0) and Lincoln (9-4) since our last Super 6. They move to the No. 1 spot for the first time this year. Creekside’s only local loss has come to Nease (4-2). They open district play against Atlantic Coast. Dominic Cantona (.364, 2 HR, 16 RBI) bumped his average 14 points since our last Super 6. Aramis Guanchez (.329) is right behind.
2. (3) Bishop Snyder (18-5, Class 2A)
Quality wins: Baldwin, Bolles, Central (Ala.), Farragut (Tennessee), Fernandina Beach, Hartselle (Ala.), Morgan County (Ga.), Newnan (Ga.), North Gwinnett (Ga.), North Oconee (Ga.), Parkview (Ga.), Providence, Sandalwood, South Walton, Suwannee.
Notable: Great week for the Cardinals, who powered through Georgia teams North Oconee (6-1), North Gwinnett (9-3) and Parkview (9-2) since our last Super 6. Ilias Mamea (.429, 4 HR, 17 RBI) and Cole Dennis (.404, 5 HR, 18 RBI) lead the bats. Dennis is also the top arm (6-1, 1.15 ERA, 73 Ks, 42.2 IP).
3. (1) Trinity Christian (18-7, Class 2A)
Quality wins: Baldwin, Baylor (Tenn.), Beachside, Clay (twice), Columbia, Edmond Memorial (Okla.), Lincoln, Lowndes (Ga.), Magnolia Heights (Miss.), North Marion, Richmond Hill (Ga.), St. Johns Country Day, Suwannee, Tocoi Creek, University Christian, West Broward.
Notable: The Conquerors have played the most challenging schedule in the area and topped Baldwin and Clay since our last Super 6. They also took a shocking 13-3 run-rule loss to Suwannee since our last update, so they slip from the top spot as districts arrive. Hated to push Trinity down because I think they remain the area’s top pick for a title, but that’s just how this week played out. They allowed a 12-run inning in that game, so safe to say it was a tough game all around. Gage Petrutz (.447, 3 HR, 19 RBI) and Aiden Arnett (.405, 3 HR, 15 RBI) lead the offense. Jordan Martinez (.358, 6 HR, 26 RBI) is the other Trinity hitter above .300. Tyler Ellis (6-0, 0.64 ERA, 52 Ks, 33 IP) has been the top arm for the Conquerors. They’ve got state title expectations but it will be a tough road to get out a region that also includes Bishop Snyder.
4. (4) St. Johns Country Day (17-8, Class 1A)
Quality wins: Baldwin, Beachside, Bishop Kenny, Clay (twice), Flagler Palm Coast, North Oconee, Providence, Sandalwood, Suwannee, Trinity Christian, University Christian, West Broward, Winter Park
Notable: The Spartans went 1-2 since our last Super 6, losing to North Gwinnett (4-2) and Parkview (4-1) while beating North Oconee (4-0). No reason for concern. St. Johns had local losses to Bolles, Creekside and Trinity Christian this year, four losses to out-of-state teams and one to IMG Academy. The Spartans have championship game expectations once again this year. Hunter Rodgers (.347, 2 HR, 14 RBI), Brayden Harris (.338, 11 RBI), Jonas Wells (.333, 13 RBI) and Madden Williams (.333, 3 HR, 17 RBI) lead the bats.
5. (NR) Bolles (18-6, Class 2A)
Quality wins: Barron Collier, Bishop Kenny, Episcopal, Fernandina Beach, Knoxville Catholic (Tenn.), North Gwinnett (Ga.), North Oconee (Ga.), Parkview (Ga.), Ponte Vedra, Providence, Sandalwood, St. Johns Country Day, St. Joseph
Notable: The Bulldogs end the regular season in the Super 6 after ripping off eight consecutive wins, including one over St. Johns in that span. District play is up next, and it starts with Bishop Snyder in what could be the state’s toughest district. James McCranie (.536, 4 HR, 22 RBI), Gray McCarthy (.329, 5 HR, 21 RBI) and Matthew Mizell (.328, 13 RBI) lead the Bolles offense. McCarthy also shines on the mound at 7-1 (1.92 ERA, 52 Ks, 47.1 IP).
6. (5) Fernandina Beach (18-4, Class 3A)
Quality wins: Baker County, Baldwin (twice), Bishop Kenny, First Coast, Sandalwood, Tocoi Creek, Trinity Catholic, Union County, West Nassau.
Notable: A 1-1 week with a 6-0 win over Ridgeview and a 4-2 loss to Fleming Island. Fernandina Beach has been uber consistent this season and will make a push for a deep playoff run. Trace Farmer (.431, 2 HR, 23 RBI) and Landen Holbrook (.356, HR) lead the Pirates at the plate.
