The Ponte Vedra boys lacrosse team is headed back to the state championship game.

The Sharks scored the eventual game winning with 6 minutes and 7 seconds to play and fended off a late Winter Park rally in a 6-5 win.

Baylor Vu found the net midway through the fourth, a hard-charging blast that broke a 5-all tie. Winter Park (20-2) went on the attack late and had possession with less than 5 seconds to play and one final shot attempt. But Ponte Vedra (20-2) didn’t let the Wildcats get a clean look.

Ponte Vedra will face St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. for the state championship. It’s a rematch of last year’s title game, won 13-4 by Aquinas.

Matthias Schulz tied things 5-all in the fourth to set up Hu’s game-winner.
