The Fletcher beach volleyball team capped the perfect season with a historic state championship on Saturday.
The Senators swept St. Thomas Aquinas 3-0 to win the first title by a local program in area history. Fletcher finished 20-0. Fletcher finished as state runner-up last year.

The Senators pulverized every team in the playoffs, sweeping four of their five opponents. Only Venice managed to win a point on the Senators in the postseason, sneaking in a 2-1 win at the fifth spot.
Elina Adhikari, Leila Brummel, Sofia Ventimiglia, Ashton Kirton, Lila Waite, Ramsey Langton, Jaylin Sahkno, Karsyn Smith, Amelia Richter, Kiley Brummel, Channing Wooten, and Keely Pou are the players on Fletcher’s state championship team.
