Jaguars sign CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste

The Jaguars roster now stands at 90 players on the eve of training camp

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed third-year CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste, the club announced today.

“I’m excited for another opportunity,” said Jean-Baptiste. “It’s been a year since I’ve been on the field. I’m just happy to show what I can do. It feels really good to be back in Florida.”

Jean-Baptiste, 6-3, 218, has previously spent time with Kansas City, Seattle and Detroit after originally being selected by New Orleans in the second round (58th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft. Jean-Baptiste has appeared in four career games, all of which were with the Saints during his rookie season. Most recently, Jean-Baptiste was signed by Kansas City on May 19, 2017, before being waived on June 15.

Jean-Baptiste, 27, attended the University of Nebraska where he appeared in 36 career games, totaling 74 tackles (50 solo), one sack, seven INTs, 22 passes defensed and seven special teams tackles. As a senior in 2013, Jean-Baptiste started all 13 games and was a second-team All-Big Ten selection after posting 41 tackles (27 solo), one sack and four INTs, including one returned for a TD. Jean-Baptiste originally enrolled as a WR, but made the transition to CB in 2011.

A native of Miami, Fla., Jean-Baptiste attended Miami Central H.S. for first three years before enrolling at Westlake (Davie, Fla.) Prep as a senior. Following graduation, Jean-Baptiste spent one season at North Carolina Tech Preparatory Christian Academy where he totaled 36 receptions for 580 yards in 2008. Jean-Baptiste was born April 12, 1990, and majored in sociology.

The Jaguars now have 90 players on their roster.
