Channel 4 most watched TV station in July

Jacksonville viewers continue to make News4Jax dominant No. 1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – More people get their news from News4Jax every day, making The Local Station Jacksonville’s No 1 source for local news for the July 2017 Nielsen ratings period in the Jacksonville television market. WJXT-TV 4 won every major news time period for the month. 

Outside of news, WJXT beats two major networks in prime time. For total day, WJXT is again No. 1, beating WTLV, WJXX, WJAX, WFOX and WCWJ for Monday-Friday and Monday-Sunday 3 a.m.-3 a.m. averages.

News4Jax starts the day No. 1 at 4:30 a.m., and by 5 a.m. has a 3.4 household rating, winning versus the combined audience of WTLV, WJXX, WJAX and WFOX.  The News4Jax audience grows to 4.8 rating at 5:30 a.m., and a 7 rating, 23 share from 6-7 a.m. Again, that beat the combined ratings of all local competitors.

The Morning Show, 7-9 a.m., anchored by Jennifer Waugh, Bruce Hamilton and Richard Nunn, is No. 1 in the time period with a 6.5 household rating and a 18 share, beating out all other newscasts including the national broadcasts of NBC’s Today Show on WTLV, CBS This Morning on WJAX and ABC’s Good Morning America on WJXX. This marked the 73rd consecutive month WJXT has won the 7-9 a.m. time period.  At 9 a.m., The Morning Show 2 dominated Today Show 2 by nearly 3 full rating points.

In evening news, News4Jax at 5 p.m. is most watched in the time period, with a 5.9 household rating.  This is the 171st consecutive month Tom Wills and Mary Baer have anchored the 5 p.m. together and the 171st month they are No. 1.  News4Jax at 5:30 p.m. is No. 1 in the time period with a 6.5 household rating.  News4Jax at 6 p.m. anchored by Mary Baer, Tom Will, and John Gaughan is No. 1 with a 7.4 household rating and a 13 share.

The story continues in late news, with wins in The Ten O’Clock News. WJXT earned a 6.5 rating at 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. with a 5.2 rating, both more than doubling the ratings of Action News on WFOX.  At 11 p.m. News4Jax was No. 1 with a 4.7 HH rating  

News4Jax at 4 p.m. and Inside Edition at 4:30 p.m. continue to grow the 4-5 p.m. time period and finished the month with a 2.8 household rating and 6 share overall.
