WJXT-TV is hiring a Consumer Investigative Reporter to join the I-Team. We need a problem solver who works independently and understands the power of good storytelling and reporter involvement in every story and live shot. Must excel at enterprise reporting on all content platforms and public records requests. WJXT-TV thrives on teamwork. Reporters change gears quickly because of breaking news. Reporters wear a lot of hats and help with general assignment reporting as needed. The consumer reporter is also on the solutions journalism team for Graham Media Group that investigates stories about “what is working.”

We are the number one station in Jacksonville, producing 10 hours of news Monday – Friday, 5.5 hours of news on Saturday, and 3.5 hours of news on Sunday. We need a journalist who writes well under deadline pressure and can manage multiple platforms at the same time. CW17 signed on 55 years ago as WJKS

Channel 17 signed on February 19, 1966, as WJKS, Jacksonville’s first full-time ABC affiliate. It confidently declared it was ready to “create our own shock wave of interest,” serving a market that had been without a full-time ABC station long enough. In 1980, Channel 17 picked up NBC, then in 1982, Media General purchased the station from Ziff Davis. During this period, Media General invested in the station as never before and NewsWatch improved to a solid No. Allbritton had recently purchased a station in Brunswick, and would later purchase a license and build another Jacksonville station from the ground up.

Assistant Director of Broadcast Technology

The Assistant Director of Broadcast Technology will be a leadership position in the Engineering department, under the Director of Broadcast Technology, who will assist in the decision-making and implementation of department goals and initiatives, and who will directly manage a diverse staff of IT and engineering specialists and technicians. The overall responsibilities will include management of IT operations, broadcast maintenance and broadcast operations, and assisting in strategic planning within the Engineering department. AdRESPONSIBILITIESThis position reports to the Director of Broadcast Technology to assist in coordination and implementation of strategic technology and operations initiatives for both broadcast television and digital platforms. The Assistant Director of Broadcast Technology will supervise and manage the IT and engineering technical teams within the Engineering department and assist with all aspects of the broadcast station and its multi-platform content distribution. The Assistant Director of Broadcast Technology assists with preparing the fiscal operating budget for the department, including capital budget.
