(AP Photo/Matt Ludtke, File)Pro Bowl running back Aaron Jones has agreed to a new deal with the Green Bay Packers and wonโ€™t be exploring free agency. Drew Rosenhaus, Jonesโ€™ agent, confirmed that his client had agreed on a four-year deal worth $48 million that includes a $13 million signing bonus. โ€œWe anticipated bigger offers in free agency, but Aaron wanted to stay with the Packers,โ€ Rosenhaus said via email.

Nobody comes for free in NFL free agency that begins Monday

Regardless, on Monday, two days before the NFL's 2021 business year begins, the 32 teams and agents for the players will be making deals. โ€œLegal tampering, and tampering is illegal? AdOf course, free agency always is a buyer-beware situation. AdVoila: Lavonte David, a key linebacker, was re-signed, and several other key guys in the title run could be back. โ€œWe do have some money from a cap standpoint that we can spend; but again, itโ€™s an interesting year.

Packers' Rodgers clarifies postgame remarks about his future

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (12) walks off the field after the NFC championship NFL football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Green Bay, Wis., Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021. (AP Photo/Morry Gash)GREEN BAY, Wis. โ€“ All-Pro quarterback Aaron Rodgers says โ€œI donโ€™t think thereโ€™s any reason why I wouldnโ€™t be backโ€ with the Green Bay Packers next season. Rodgers was clarifying remarks he made Sunday after the Packersโ€™ 31-26 NFC championship game loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Packersโ€™ list of potential free agents includes All-Pro center Corey Linsley and Pro Bowl running back Aaron Jones among others. Iโ€™m going to have them with the right people.

Aaron Rodgers' 'uncertain' future hangs over Green Bay

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (12) walks off the field after the NFC championship NFL football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Green Bay, Wis., Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021. (AP Photo/Morry Gash)GREEN BAY, Wis. โ€“ Aaron Rodgers said he's not sure what his future holds in Green Bay. Green Bay allowed a total of 16 sacks in its other 16 games. The NFC championship game reflected the occasional inconsistency of Green Bayโ€™s defense under Pettine. Green Bayโ€™s most notable flaw during its seven-game streak was its occasional tendency to have a breakdown on special teams.

Road warriors: Bucs win 31-26 at Green Bay, reach Super Bowl

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady (12) holds the championship trophy after winning the NFC championship NFL football game against the Green Bay Packers in Green Bay, Wis., Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021. The man with six NFL titles will become the first quarterback to play a Super Bowl on his teamโ€™s home field. No, a host team in the Super Bowl has never happened in 54 previous games. Green Bay hasnโ€™t reached the Super Bowl since its 2010 championship season. Green Bay cut the lead to 28-23 late in the third quarter on Rodgersโ€™ touchdown passes to Robert Tonyan and Davante Adams.

Packers' Jones, Bucs' Whitehead leave NFC championship game

(AP Photo/Jeffrey Phelps)GREEN BAY, Wis. โ€“ Green Bay running back Aaron Jones left Sundayโ€™s NFC championship game early in the third quarter with a chest injury suffered when he was tackled and fumbled going to the ground on a hit by Tampa Bay safety Jordan Whitehead. Jonesโ€™ fumble set up Tom Bradyโ€™s third touchdown of the day, putting Tampa Bay up 28-10. The Bucs announced Whitehead is out, leaving them with a pair of backup safeties in the lineup. Packers defensive lineman Tyler Lancaster was carted to the locker room midway through the third quarter with his ankle injury.

NFC Matchups: Where else to start but Brady and Rodgers?

But Gronk in particular has always been a big-play guy in big games for Brady, and Green Bay doesn't have linebackers who excel in coverage. Green Bay will do some blitzing, though not as much as Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles figures to do. Unlike Brady, Rodgers can create outside the pocket, and he's especially dangerous when doing so. Veteran placekicker Mason Crosby is solid, making all 16 field goal attempts, but missed four PATs for Green Bay. Tampa Bay's Ryan Succop, now in his 12th pro season, made 28 of 31 field goal tries but missed five extra points.

All eyes on QBs as Packers host Bucs for NFC championship

The Packers defeated the Rams 32-18 to advance to the NFC championship game. When Rodgersโ€™ Green Bay Packers (14-3) host Bradyโ€™s Tampa Bay Buccaneers (13-5) in the NFC championship game Sunday, it will be just the fourth time theyโ€™ve squared off as starting quarterbacks, and first in the playoffs. โ€œIโ€™m excited about the opportunity to play against him one more time.โ€The Bucs trounced the Packers 38-10 in Tampa on Oct. 18. A win at Lambeau Field clinches their first Super Bowl berth since their 2002 championship season. โ€œWe play the Packers in the NFC championship game.

Ted Thompson, 68, GM when Packers won last Super Bowl, dies

Thompson was Packers general manager from 2005-17 and drafted many notable players on the current roster, including two-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers. (AP Photo/Mike Roemer, File)GREEN BAY, Wis. โ€“ Ted Thompson, whose 13-year run as Green Bay Packers general manager included their 2010 Super Bowl championship season, has died. Mike Sherman had been working as Packers coach and general manager up to that point. With Thompson as general manager, the Packers made eight consecutive playoff appearances from 2009-16, including the Super Bowl championship season in 2010. Gutekunst, who had been working with Thompson as player personnel director, was promoted to general manager and remains in that position.

Rams' defense struggles with injury hindering Donald

Without Donald in peak form, the NFLโ€™s top defense simply couldnโ€™t slow down the leagueโ€™s highest-scoring offense. The Green Bay Packers scored on their first five series and beat the Rams 32-18 in the NFC divisional playoffs. โ€œI love Aaron Donald,โ€ Rams coach Sean McVay said. Yet this heavyweight matchup between the Packersโ€™ offense and the Ramsโ€™ defense was more like a mismatch for much of the day. You have to defend every inch as far as laterally.โ€The Rams also had some uncharacteristic mistakes on defense to help Green Bay out.

Rodgers, Packers beat Rams 32-18 to reach NFC title game

Rodgers threw two touchdown passes and also ran for a score as the top-seeded Green Bay Packers beat the Los Angeles Rams 32-18 in an NFC divisional playoff game Saturday. The Packers didn't allow any sacks despite playing without injured All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari, while Green Bay sacked Jared Goff four times. Rodgers called the Packers' offensive linemen โ€œthe stars of the game tonight.โ€โ€œDefinitely not happy,โ€ Rams defensive tackle Michael Brockers said. For Green Bay, Dillon injured his quadriceps when he fumbled. UP NEXTThe Rams' season is over.

Rodgers throws 4 TDs, Packers beat Bears 35-16 for top seed

The Green Bay Packers clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC by beating the playoff-bound Chicago Bears 35-16 on Sunday. โ€œThis is a special season," Rodgers said. And the Packers beat Chicago again after pounding the Bears at Lambeau Field to start their win streak. Green Bay then drove 76 yards, with Jones scoring from the 4 to make it 28-16 with 3:47 remaining.

Adams shines in snow as Packers trounce Titans 40-14

The Green Bay Packers teammates would love the opportunity to produce plenty of similar scenes next month by staying home throughout the NFC playoffs. Rodgers threw four touchdown passes as the Packers trounced the Tennessee Titans 40-14 for their fifth consecutive victory Sunday night. I think we proved that tonight.โ€Playing in the cold at Green Bay is tough for road teams, anyway. With snow falling throughout the first half and continuing to cover much of the field the rest of the game, Green Bay moved the ball at will all night. Green Bay pulled ahead 19-0 when Rodgers threw touchdown passes on each of their first three possessions.

Packers outlast Panthers 24-16 for 4th straight victory

Green Bay (11-3) won its fourth straight despite getting outscored 13-3 and outgained 214-49 in the second half. Rodgers called the second half โ€œdefinitely a stinker for the offense.โ€โ€œWe just know that type of football in the second half is not going to get it done in the playoffs, where we're going,โ€ Rodgers said. Green Bay took a half-game lead over New Orleans (10-3) in the race for the NFCโ€™s best record. We played better after that.โ€Carolina scored the first 10 points of the second half on Bridgewaterโ€™s 13-yard scramble and Slyeโ€™s 22-yard field goal. Green Bay hosts Tennessee in another night game on Dec. 27.

Packers withstand late rally to outlast Eagles 30-16

The only other players with at least 400 touchdown passes are Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Dan Marino and Philip Rivers. He has 36 touchdown passes this year and is the first player to throw at least 35 in five separate seasons. Rodgers doesn't have the footballs from his 100th, 200th or 300th touchdown passes. His 400th touchdown pass was a 9-yarder to Adams that capped a 99-yard drive in the third period. Philadelphiaโ€™s rally started with Hurts' 32-yard touchdown pass to Greg Ward on fourth-and-18.

Aaron Rodgers leads Packers past undermanned 49ers, 34-17

(AP Photo/Tony Avelar)SANTA CLARA, Calif. โ€“ Aaron Rodgers took advantage of the undermanned San Francisco 49ers rather than sympathizing with the team that dominated his Green Bay Packers twice last season. Rodgers threw for 305 yards and four touchdowns and the Packers overwhelmed the depleted 49ers 34-17 on Thursday night. DEPLETED ROSTERThe run of injuries and coronavirus rules left the 49ers with a shell of a roster, especially on offense. 49ers: CB Kโ€™Waun Williams (ankle) and S Jaquiski Tartt (toe) left the game and didnโ€™t return.

Cook's 4 TDs help Vikings knock off Packers 28-22

Green Bay had the ball at Minnesota's 41-yard line with 12 seconds and no timeouts left, but D.J. Each of the Vikingsโ€™ first four possessions ended with Cook touchdowns. Green Bay went a 2-point conversion got within 28-22 when replays determined the ball crossed the goal line on Jamaal Williamsโ€™ inside run. Green Bay got the ball back and reached Minnesotaโ€™s 41-yard line with 12 seconds and no timeouts left, but D.J. Four times in the second half, Green Bay reached Vikings territory without scoring.

Pandemic limiting what NFL players can do on their off weeks

The Packers (4-0) and Detroit Lions (1-3) donโ€™t play this week and therefore are the first NFL teams to get a taste of how different off weeks will be amid a pandemic. โ€œWe have new protocols in place that are meant to keep everybody safe and healthy,โ€ Lions coach Matt Patricia said. The NFL sent out a reminder Friday that the leagueโ€™s agreement with the NFL Players Association in August means players who miss tests can be punished with a $50,000 fine. โ€œYouโ€™ve got to look no further than Tennessee.โ€The protocols are impacting some players more than others. While the protocols have changed those plans, it has created opportunities for those players who already have their family members with them.
