Detainees at an immigration detention center in the Florida Everglades, known as “Alligator Alcatraz,” have been transferred to other facilities, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said, citing concerns related to the hurricane season.

A corrections sergeant at the Baker County Detention Center was fired and arrested Tuesday after an investigation revealed he hit an inmate without reason, according to the Baker County Sheriff’s Office.
