Serena's gone, Open must go on: Kvitova, Pegula set rematch
Much like for so many other folks, Serena Williamsโ last match at the U.S. Open was must-see TV for players still in the tournament, so Jessica Pegula and Petra Kvitova tuned in from their hotel rooms the night before their victories led off Saturdayโs schedule and set up a fourth-round showdown.

Everyman's everyman, who faced Federer at Wimbledon, retires

Thiem, Nadal win opening matches at ATP Finals in London

Tsitsipas beat Thiem in a third-set tiebreaker in last yearโs final to clinch the biggest title of his career. Facing set point, the Greek failed to put away a fairly simple overhead at the net before sending a lob long to hand Thiem the lead. Nadal broke in the opening game of the second set as well and never faced a break point of his own. He served out the win on his second match point when Rublev's return sailed long.

French Open champ Swiatek rises to 17th; Djokovic, Nadal 1-2

Virus cases at Djokovic's event put sports under scrutiny
Grigor Dimitrov, a three-time Grand Slam semifinalist from Bulgaria, said Sunday he tested positive for the virus. Borna Coric played Dimitrov on Saturday in Zadar and said Monday he has also tested positive for the virus. In a separate incident, Serbian soccer club Red Star Belgrade said five of its players had tested positive for the virus. There has also been an increase in virus cases among soccer players in other countries, notably Russia. Djokovics decision to fly home to Serbia before being tested has also attracted scrutiny.

Roger Federer suffers fastest defeat in 16 years

The 20-time grand slam champion was roundly beaten 6-3 6-4 by Russian qualifier Andrey Rublev in just 62 minutes. Defense, offense, serving well," Federer said of his opponent after the match. No 70 was clearly emotional after beating Federer and can now look forward to a quarterfinal match up with fellow Russian Daniil Medvedev. "It's the biggest and most emotional win," said Rublev, before turning his attention to praising Federer.
