Travis comes off bench to guide Florida State rally
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. โ Florida State was struggling on offense and turned to a new quarterback for a spark. Jordan Travis came off the bench to lead Florida State to touchdowns on five straight drives as the Seminoles rallied to knock off FCS program Jacksonville State 41-24 on Saturday. Travis had transferred to Florida State from Louisville before the 2019 season, and he had been critical to a win at Boston College last November with a pair of long touchdown runs. Lawrance Toafili ran for 99 yards and a touchdown for Florida State, which finished with 263 rushing yards on 53 carries. Florida State plays at Notre Dame next Saturday.
No. 12 Miami routs Florida State
12 Hurricanes beat Florida State 52-10 on Saturday night. Miami scored touchdowns on its five possessions and built a 35-point lead at halftime. He also ran for 65 on eight carries against Florida State. โAny time you give up 52 points, itโs never progress,โ Florida State linebacker Amari Gainer said. Georgia Tech edges Florida State 16-13
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. โ True freshman Jeff Sims, who was once a Florida State commitment, threw for 277 yards and a touchdown as Georgia Tech defeated the Seminoles 16-13 in both teams' season opener on Saturday night. Cornerback Asante Samuel had two interceptions and two pass break-ups for Florida State. A NEW-LOOK OFFENSEJeff Simsโ 24 completions are the most by a Georgia Tech quarterback since Reggie Ball had 27 vs. Duke on Nov. 8, 2003. Florida State officials had expected between 19,000-20,000, roughly 25 percent of the capacity at Doak Campbell Stadium. Georgia Tech plays host to UCF on Saturday.
