Life of trailblazing Jacksonville icon Betty Holzendorf celebrated with hometown service
Trailblazer and Jacksonville native Betty Holzendorf, who served in both the Florida House and Florida Senate, was laid to rest Monday at Jacksonville National Cemetery after a celebration of life at St. Paul AME Church on New Kings Road. She died Feb. 29 at the age of 84.

Betty Holzendorf served four years in the Florida House of Representatives and 10 years in the Florida Senate. She's from Jacksonville and graduated from Edward Waters College and the University of North Florida. The Duval Democratic Party announced Holzendorf died on Thursday, February 29, 2024.
