This week’s new entertainment releases include albums from Post Malone and Drive-By Truckers, “Fast & Furious” alum Elsa Pataky leading her own action picture with “Interceptor,” and the modern romantic comedy “Fire Island,” set in the iconic LGBTQ vacation spot.

It's never easy to define a year in pop culture, especially in a rollercoaster year like 2021, when we were up and down again, and again, and again.

The acclaimed sketch series added some new blood to the cast this season with comedians Bowen Yang and Chloe Fineman, and the pair both enjoyed some memorable (albeit somewhat brief) screen time during the season 45 premiere over the weekend. Here's a look at some of Yang and Fineman's debut highlights from this week's SNL premiere"Impeachment Cold Open"It's a big deal when a new castmember gets a chance to be in a Cold Open, and it's even more impressive when that Cold Open is also his debut on-screen appearance. "DNC Town Hall"In yet another SNL sketch surrounding Trump's impeachment, the show took some swipes at the wide-open field of democratic candidates with a sketch lampooning the recent debates that have pitted the dems against one another. Yang portrayed candidate Andrew Yang, while Fineman delivered a magnificent and hilariously bizarre impression of Marianne Williamson. "If you think my candidacy is going well, I'm literally giving free money to people and I'm still in sixth place," Yang's Yang jokes in the sketch.

Shane Gillis was announced as the latest addition to its 45th season on Thursday, along with Bowen Yang and Chloe Fineman. However, Gillis has been receiving major heat after racist and homophobic remarks he made within the last year on his podcast resurfaced. "Chinatown's f**king nuts," Gillis tells comedian Matt McCusker on Matt and Shane's Secret Podcast. As people continue to go through Gillis' previous work, even more anti-Asian comments have been brought up. The new SNL season kicks off Sept. 28 with host Woody Harrelson and musical guest Billie Eilish.

Bowen Yang as Kim Jong Un for a March 30 episode of "Saturday Night Live." Yang, a writer on "SNL," is joining the cast as a series regular. NEW YORK (CNN) - NBC's "Saturday Night Live" has added comedians Chloe Fineman, Shane Gillis and Bowen Yang as featured players for the upcoming 45th season. The NYU graduate's casting is also noteworthy as he's the only Asian American series regular in this cast. The 45th season of "SNL" premieres September 28 with host Woody Harrelson and musical guest Billie Eilish.
