Vintage aircraft collide in Virginia

Listen 3 min Comment on this story Comment Gift Article ShareTwo vintage aircraft, apparently of the same type as in one of the most famous scenes in Hollywood history, collided over the weekend in Virginia, according to authorities. Four people suffered minor injuries in the Saturday crash of the biplanes in Fauquier County, Va., state police said. One was used for the flight scenes, and the Stearman for the concluding shots when the sinister aircraft strikes the truck and is destroyed. The pilot of the plane that was landing was a 62-year old man from Warrenton, Va., state police said. He and a 50-year-old woman who was his passenger were both treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Sean Connery, a lion of cinema whose roar went beyond Bond

FILE - This March 4, 1992 file photo shows actor Sean Connery during a news conference in Hamburg, Germany. Connery, considered by many to have been the best James Bond, has died aged 90, according to an announcement from his family. (AP Photo/Christian Eggers, File)Writing an appreciation of Sean Connery feels inevitably inadequate compared to experiencing the real thing. Connery’s Bond became etched as an icon of its era, one increasingly distant from today. That could be because the glint of mischief that accompanied nearly every Connery performance was so present in “The Last Crusade.” Connery always left you feeling if not shaken then very happily stirred.
