Elizabeth Debicki to play Princess Diana on 'The Crown'
NEW YORK The Crown has found its Princess Diana. Elizabeth Debicki will play the Princess of Wales in seasons five and six of The Crown, the Netflix series announced Sunday. Debicki will join a new cast for the series that includes Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret. Emma Corrin is playing Diana on the dramas upcoming fourth season, but Debicki will take on the part for what's sure to be the character's most dramatic chapters. Princess Dianas spirit, her words and her actions live in the hearts of so many, Debicki said on Twitter.

In the second teaser trailer for season three of The Crown, Olivia Colman's Queen Elizabeth II grapples with no longer being as young as Claire Foy's iteration of the character during the Netflix series' first two seasons. The scene opens with the Queen taking in a new photograph of herself. In season four, Netflix recently announced, Gillian Anderson will play Margaret Thatcher and Emma Corrin will star as Lady Diana Spencer. Season three of The Crown premieres Nov. 17 only on Netflix. Gillian Anderson will play Margaret Thatcher in 'The Crown' Season 4
Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images(CNN) - Gillian Anderson will play former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in season four of "The Crown," Netflix confirmed Saturday. "I am so excited to be joining the cast and crew of 'The Crown' and to have the opportunity to portray such a complicated and controversial woman," Anderson said in a tweet. Thatcher, who died in 2013, was Great Britain's first female prime minister and served from from 1979 to 1990. Netflix announced in April Emma Corrin also will join the Season 4 cast as Lady Diana Spencer, the eventual first wife of Prince Charles. The fourth season of "The Crown" is in production.

This time around there's a new queen as Academy Award winner Olivia Colman takes over the role from Claire Foy, who played Queen Elizabeth II the first two seasons. Colman may be able to continue that award streak with "The Crown." Her predecessor, Foy, won a Primetime Emmy, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her portrayal of the current British monarch.

Netflix announced on Monday that season three will make its "royal debut" on Sunday, Nov. 17 with a brief video announcement showing Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II. The anticipated new season will span from 1964 to 1977 as Colman takes over the main role of Queen Elizabeth from Claire Foy, who portrayed a younger version of her in the first two seasons. Menzies, meanwhile, replaces Matt Smith, who originated the role as the Duke of Edinburgh. The actors will portray their respective royals for season three and four, which will also introduce Emma Corrin as Lady Diana Spencer.
