The tension between the demand for flexibility and the costs of committing to it entirely is likely to grow. Fewer than 28 percent of those employed in the nationโs 10 biggest business districts, including Washington, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, were at the office the first week of January, according to data from Kastle Systems. And 55 percent of remote workers would consider quitting if their companies tried to force their return to offices, according to research this month from Morning Consult.

Two south suburban Cook County mass COVID-19 vaccination sites will accept walk-in appointments starting Wednesday as demand for shots dwindles. The Matteson and Tinley Park mass vaccination locations are opening up access this week as part of a pilot to see whether removing the barrier of making an appointment online or over the phone will expand the countyโs endeavor at getting shots into arms, Cook County Health CEO Israel Rocha Jr. said in a news conference at Provident Hospital.
