IRS says new round of COVID relief payments on the way
โThe payments will be delivered automatically to taxpayers even as the IRS continues delivering regular tax refunds,โ IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig said in a statement. The relief measure, which passed on party-line votes in both the House and Senate, contains the third round of economic-impact payments. The first round passed last spring provided up to $1,200 per individual, and a second round of payments in December provided up to $600 per individual. The latest round of relief payments will provide households with $1,400 for each adult, child and adult dependent, such as college students or elderly relatives. AdOfficials said they wanted to handle the payments this way rather than waiting for the 2020 tax return to be filed in the interest of speeding payments to taxpayers.
Biden won't put his name on relief checks, unlike Trump
President Joe Biden will not be attaching his signature to the $1,400 relief checks that are expected to be mailed soon โ a break with his predecessor who last year had โPresident Donald J. Trumpโ printed on the economic impact payments approved by Congress. House Democratic leaders said Tuesday that they have the votes to give final congressional approval to Biden's $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill. The vote on that bill, which includes the checks for most American households, is set for Wednesday. Trump insisted last April after more than $2 trillion in coronavirus aid was approved that his name be on the $1,200 relief checks โ a first for any president. โThere's not going to be a problem" with the vote, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., told reporters Tuesday.
Trump, RNC clash over using his name in fundraising
In his first major speech since leaving office, Trump urged his supporters to give their money to Save America, his political action committee, instead of the GOP's traditional fundraising organizations. AdThe House and Senate Republican campaign committees and a Trump spokesman did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The RNC and Trump's campaign worked hand-in-hand during the 2020 election, including raising money through a joint fundraising committee. You have been selected as one of the FIRST to be invited to claim your Trump Legacy Membership,โ the RNC wrote in one appeal on Sunday. AdโWe NEED 10,000 patriots who still stand with President Trump before midnight tonight," โURGENT: TRUMP SUPPORTERS NEEDED,โ added the National Republican Senatorial Committee Monday afternoon.
Trump's cash plea could complicate GOP fundraising efforts
โPresident Trumpโs Legacy is in your hands," another pleaded. Before making his money pitch on Sunday, Trump's team quietly updated its fundraising filings. Money raised through Trump's website now goes to Save America JFC, a joint fundraising agreement between the two. Regardless of Trump's next move, the GOP is unlikely to remove him from its sales pitch anytime soon. โOur digital fundraising strategy is simple: raise as much money as possible," said Andrew Romeo, a spokesman for the RSLC.

In court, Giuliani argues to block Biden win in Pennsylvania
The court case is over the Trump campaign's federal lawsuit seeking to prevent the battleground state of Pennsylvania from certifying its election. Giuliani responded, โthe scope of the remedy is because of the scope of the injury." But Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, spent most of his time in court claiming baselessly that a wide-ranging scheme in Pennsylvania and elsewhere stole the election from Trump in battleground states won by Biden. This is not an isolated case, this is a case that is repeated in at least 10 other jurisdictions,โ Giuliani said, without citing any evidence. Trump's campaign has not been shy in previous weeks about publicizing what they say is evidence of election fraud.

Trust Index: Did Pfizer intentionally delay its vaccine announcement?
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ President Donald Trump and his son, Donald Trump Jr., have accused the drug manufacturer Pfizer of deliberately delaying the release of information about a COVID-19 vaccine until after the election. On Monday, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla announced early study data revealed the companyโs COVID-19 vaccine was 90% effective in preventing people from getting the virus. Later that afternoon, President Trump tweeted:As I have long said, @Pfizer and the others would only announce a Vaccine after the Election, because they didnโt have the courage to do it before. Based on our current trial enrollment and dosing pace, we estimate we will reach this milestone in the third week of November.โThis means the numbers Pfizer announced Monday were released a week earlier than expected. With that information, the Trust Index finds the claim that Pfizer intentionally delayed its announcement until after the election to be NOT TRUE.
Trust Index: Are โillegalโ votes being counted?
As election officials in states across the country continue releasing vote totals for the presidential election, some claim that ballots counted after Election Day must be illegal. โIf you count the legal votes, I easily win,โ Trump said during a briefing at the White House on Thursday. CLAIM: Votes counted after Tuesday are illegal because they did not reach election offices by Election Day and the counting underway right now is not whatโs usually expected at this point during an election. THE FACTS: The Trust Index team at our sister station in Orlando verified that election laws in many states allow votes to be counted as long as they are postmarked by Election Day, even if they arrive later. After reviewing the facts, the Trust Index team has determined that votes being counted after Election Day are legal, as long as state laws are being followed.
