Tatis Jr. has yet to take a ground ball or swing a bat at spring training and he i already the talk of the Padres clubhouse. Preller said Monday in announcing the two sides had finalized Tatis' $340 million, 14-year contract, the longest in baseball history. "He loves the franchise, he loves the city, he loves his teammates and he talked a lot about really wanting to get on the path of that statue contract." Most importantly to the Padres, Tatis has made baseball fun again in San Diego after years of futility. A company called Big League Advance will receive a portion of Tatisโ€™ contract during the next 14 years as repayment of an advance he received four years ago.

The Los Angeles Olympics were just a few months away and closing ceremony producer David L. Wolper had a problem. He would do All Night Long. And he did it almost all night long, singing for 9 minutes as athletes danced on the field and people rocked in their seats. I basically just re-enacted the entire All Night Long video and brought it to life on stage, Richie said. Fernando Ricksen, former Rangers player, dies at age 43

(CNN) - Former Rangers player Fernando Ricksen has passed away at the age of 43 following a battle with motor neurone disease. Ricksen, who won 12 caps for the Dutch national team, had been battling the disease for six years after being diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in October 2013. The former defender spent six years at the Glasgow club, where he won the domestic cup double in 2002 and the treble in 2003. "It's very sad news for everyone connected with Rangers and, more importantly, his young family," Rangers coach Steven Gerrard told a news conference on Wednesday. "That sums up the character, the warrior type on the pitch and off the pitch.
