The Super Flower Blood Moon, a total lunar eclipse, occurs tonight (May 15). Here's what to know and where to watch.

Retired NASA eclipse scientist Fred Espenak has been watching the night sky ever since he was eight years old, and plans once again to look up for the forthcoming lunar eclipse Sunday (May 15).

This year's first lunar eclipse, one of two, will be able to be seen across the majority of the Americas.

We usually associate the term Blue Moon with a month containing two full moons. That won't happen in August, yet this month brings a Blue Moon nonetheless.

May's full moon, known as the Flower Moon, will be the closest "supermoon" and the only total lunar eclipse of 2021, earning it the moniker 'Super Flower Blood Moon.'
