Five teams of Culinary Arts students at Duval County Public Schools (DCPS) will convene at Frank H. Peterson Academies of Technology for a live, in-person cook off to crown a team of โChampions.โ Each of the five finalist teams prepared and cooked a recipe that was served at THE PLAYERS in its VIP hospitality experience called THE PLAYERS Club, one of the most exclusive and sought-after hospitality experiences in sport and entertainment, featuring hand-crafted food and beverage offerings from renowned chefs across the country and the world. Jacksonville organization helping to diversify veterinary medicine
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The Jacksonville Humane Society has acknowledged the lack of diversity in the field of veterinary medicine and is now doing something about it through a partnership with Frank H. Peterson Academies of Technology on the Westside. The three students are enrolled in a diversity, equity and inclusion program that focuses on the field of veterinary medicine. Under the program, the Humane Society partners with Frank H. Peterson Academies of Technology to help students interested in a career in veterinary medicine, especially minority students. Humane Society administrators told News4Jax the programโs aim is to create paths for employment -- both in Jacksonville and in the fields of animal welfare and veterinary medicine -- for historically underrepresented populations. Lawsuit alleges student was assaulted on campus of Duval County high school
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The Duval County School Board is facing a lawsuit by a parent who says their daughter was sexually assaulted by a fellow student inside a Jacksonville high school. โAccording to the grand jury report, there are dozens and probably hundreds other cases that were neglected, disregarded and ignored,โ Stone said, referring to an initial report released this month by a statewide grand jury studying school safety. That initial report accuses the Duval County School District of underreporting crimes and gang activity happening inside its schools. News4Jax requested comment from the Duval County School Board. Dr. Tracy Pierce, the director of communications, said the board wonโt comment on pending litigation or about the grand jury report until itโs complete.
