The TaxSlayer Gator Bowl has its matchup and it’s a great one.

Though his team is out of the playoffs, Grayson Howard will represent Jackson one more time. January 7 in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas. On Saturday, Howard received his All-American Bowl jersey.

After more than a decade of struggles, Jackson is contending again. If the Tigers beat Raines a week from Friday, they’ll clinch the district title for the first time since 2009.

He sees it in the hallways and at pep rallies. He sees it when people ask him where he’s going to play college football at. There’s pure excitement at Jackson High School. There’s pride. And Grayson Howard is a big reason why.

High school football is back, for a few weeks at least, with spring practices opening Monday across the state. A few sights and sounds from Monday’s opening day of spring.
