Corral's decision sweetens Ole Miss-Baylor Sugar Bowl tilt
Mississippi quarterback Matt Corral wasn't about to miss a chance to make history in the Sugar Bowl. The potential first-round NFL draft choice has spent four years helping the Rebels (10-2) rise from the bottom of the Southeastern Conference standings to a No. 8 ranking and the cusp of the program's first 11-win season — if they can beat sixth-ranked Baylor (11-2) on Saturday night. Corral said the bond he has formed with Ole Miss teammates over several seasons outweighs the risk of an injury that could sink his draft stock — and his rookie pay day along with it.news.yahoo.com

No. 7 Indiana excited to be in Outback Bowl against Ole Miss
“We were definitely kind of bummed out about what happened with the New Year's Six bowl game, but we just kind of used that as fuel to the fire,” running back Stevie Scott III said. “It has been 29 years since we last won a bowl game,” quarterback Jack Tuttle said. The problem was a porous defense yielded 40.3 points and a nation’s-worst 535.7 yards per game in the team’s first season under Kiffin. In fact, it’s rare that Ole Miss is facing a Big Ten opponent at all. They haven’t faced a team from that league since beating Nebraska in the 2002 Independence Bowl.

No. 5 Florida settles into normal routine, braces for chaos
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida coach Dan Mullen is finally settling into a somewhat normal routine. Nonetheless, Mullen is still wary of what lies ahead as Florida prepares to open the season at Ole Miss on Saturday. “Obviously, all the COVID stuff makes you anxious,” Mullen said. That’s something Coach Mullen emphasizes at practice: everybody being ready. For now, though, the Gators are just happy to be getting ready to play.

David Waters is joined by Will Miles (ReadandReaction.com) to have a look at the new look Rebels with Lane Kiffin roaming the sidelines. Also, the two make some season predictions along the way. Florida has potential for championships in Mullens 3rd year
It also could be Mullen taking over-the-top precaution as the eighth-ranked Gators get ready to begin a championship-or-bust season. We have the potential to go compete for a championship and be a championship team, said Mullen, who is 21-5 in two seasons in Gainesville. But I think we have that potential, which is really good and its really exciting. Florida won 10 games in Mullens first season and 11 in Year 2. This season, Wilson has All-SEC potential and fellow cornerback Kaiir Elam is considered a rising star after a breakout freshman year.
Orgeron: LSU in the market for a transfer cornerback now
LSU coach Ed Orgeron is looking to add a transfer defensive back at a time when uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic could theoretically help the No. Were a little short at cornerback, Orgeron said during a video media conference Tuesday. We are currently researching if there is a cornerback or maybe a nickel cornerback out there who is available. The Eagles play in the ACC and remain on track to play its fall season. In addition, Fresno State standout linebacker Justin Rice also transferred after the Mountain West Conference postponed its fall season.
No. 8 Florida gets WRs Grimes, Toney, Copeland back at camp
8 Florida has its top two receivers back at practice and ready to play this season. Coach Dan Mullen confirmed Tuesday that Trevon Grimes and Kadarius Toney have returned after missing the first few days of fall camp. Good to have some of those guys out to create some depth. It's still unclear why Grimes, Toney and Copeland sat out the first few practices. Toney and Copeland expressed concerns earlier this month about playing amid the coronavirus pandemic. Theyve had no positive tests or anyone quarantined because of exposure in August.
COVID-19, not championships, hot topic at SEC practices
Quarterback battles seem fairly inconsequential with COVID-19 threatening the season and teams' depth charts. The SEC, winner of 10 football national championships since 2006, is just hoping to have a season and play out the league-only schedule starting Sept. 26. SEC coaches and officials have sounded the alarm in efforts to save the season. But those are the challenges SEC teams face with it becoming harder for players to remain in their virtual protective bubble. I know for a fact that everybody here on our team wants to have a season and play this fall, Stokes said.
Florida opens practice short-handed, Mullen expects opt-outs
GAINESVILLE, Fla. Florida coach Dan Mullen had several players miss the teams opening training camp practice Monday. We had a couple guys not practice today, but well see how that goes moving forward for us, Mullen said during a Zoom call with reporters. His father, Frank Carter, told Rivals that his son has significant concerns. First of all, hes my son and I support him, Frank Carter told the recruiting website. I think its the team thats able to adapt best to whatever situation theres a lot of moving parts and the team thats able to adapt will end up holding up that national championship trophy at the end of the season."
