A foundation created in honor of Jacksonville recording artist Janarious “Lil Poppa” Wheeler will host a community collaboration mixer in October as it works to carry out a vision Wheeler shared before his death.

Nearly one month after it was announced that Jacksonville rapper ‘Lil Poppa’ had died, Eastside residents gathered at City Hall on Tuesday to ask officials if March 18 could be designated as “Lil Poppa Day.”

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday confirmed the death of Jacksonville rapper Janarious “Lil Poppa” Wheeler.
