Local Muslim community to break fast during Ramadan with virtual iftar Saturday

Known for its open houses during Ramadan, the Muslim communitys Virtual Reflections on the Power of Prayer During the Pandemic event will be one of dozens across the nation. It will feature faith-based speakers, a video about the groups 100 years in America, narrated by community member Mahershala Ali, and appearances by local elected officials, including U.S. Rep. Sean Casten and DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick, according to Iftekhar Ahmad, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Chicagos director of public affairs.

Antron McCay, Raymond Santana, Kevin Richardson, Ava DuVernay, Korey Wise and Yusef Salaam, who walked the red carpet with DuVernay, rose from their seats, giving Jerome a loud applause. "It's for Raymond, Yusef, Antron, Kevin and King Korey Wise," the actor said.

'The Handmaid's Tale' renewed for Season 4

(CNN) - Hulu has renewed its dystopian drama "The Handmaid's Tale" for a fourth season, CNN has learned. The Emmy-winning series is based on author Margaret Atwood's acclaimed novel and is set in, what the cast and writers argue, is a not-to-distant-future. "The Handmaid's Tale" is currently in its third season and airs Wednesdays on Hulu. A premiere date for Season 4 has not been announced. There, it was also announced that Oscar winner Mahershala Ali will be a special-guest star in the second season of comedian and creator Ramy Youssef's semi-autobiographical dramedy "Ramy."

Mahershala Ali to star in 'Blade' for Marvel

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images(CNN) - Marvel made a host of super announcements at its panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego on Saturday, but saved arguably the biggest news on Phase 4 for last. Two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing Blade, the vampire-hunting character previously played by Wesley Snipes. Ali was on hand for the announcement and given a hero's welcome as he revealed the news by wearing a "Blade" hat. The last "Blade" film, "Blade: Trinity," was released in 2004. Ali, who has won Academy Awards for his roles in "Green Book" and "Moonlight," most recently starred in HBO's latest installment of "True Detective."
