More than 200 people across a half-dozen southern states have reported witnessing a mysterious object streak across the sky.

An object bright enough to be seen streaking across the midday sky has fallen across parts of the Southeast U.S. The National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia, says the object was likely either a meteor or space junk.

Thunderstorms and heavy rain pounded parts of northwest Georgia on Sunday, sparking flash flooding and dangerously high waters in some areas.

Two Georgia law enforcement officers from different departments have died, days after they were shot in separate incidents.
