Netflix rejects calls to add disclaimer to The Crown
LONDON โ Netflix has โno plansโ to add a disclaimer to โThe Crownโ stating that its lavish drama about Britain's royal family is a work of fiction. In a statement Saturday, Netflix said it has always presented the drama, as just that โ a drama. โWe have always presented The Crown as a drama โ and we have every confidence our members understand itโs a work of fiction thatโs broadly based on historical events," it said. โThe Crownโ creator Peter Morgan, whose work also includes recent-history dramas โThe Queenโ and โFrost/Nixon,โ has defended his work, saying it is thoroughly researched and true in spirit. Charles Spencer, Dianaโs brother, was one who called on Netflix to add a disclaimer.

British royals deny vetting Netflix series 'The Crown'
Paul Grover - Pool/Getty Images(CNN) - The British royal family has denied any involvement with the Netflix series "The Crown," which depicts the life of Queen Elizabeth II, after writer Peter Morgan claimed to meet regularly with "people who are very high-ranking and very active within the organisation." In an interview with the Guardian published last week, Morgan said he met four times a year with members of the royal household in order to brief them on the contents of "The Crown." Ahead of the release of the third season, starring Olivia Colman as the Queen, Morgan told the newspaper, "Respectfully, I tell them what I have in mind, and they brace themselves slightly." "We appreciate that readers of The Times may enjoy this fictionalised interpretation of historical events, but they should do so knowing that the Royal Household is not complicit in interpretations made by the programme," McCabe continued.
