A proposed 62‑day recreational red snapper season in federal waters off Georgia that was to begin July 1 has been delayed after a federal judge blocked a set of Exempted Fishing Permits for South Atlantic states, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources said.

Friday marks the first day of the two-day red snapper season in the Atlantic. News4JAX spent the day on the water with members of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation and the American Sportfishing Association (ASA).

Friday is the one day this year when anglers can fish for Atlantic red snapper recreationally.
