NEW YORK – “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm,” “Promising Young Woman” and “Ma Rainey's Black Bottom” are among the nominees for the top honor of the 32nd annual Producers Guild Awards, the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for outstanding producer. The Producers Guild announced ten nominees for its best-picture award on Monday. In the past two years, PGA and Oscar best-picture nominations have aligned exactly, except the PGA also nominated “Knives Out” last year. In 2020, “1917” was crowed by the PGA before “Parasite” won at the Academy Awards. Academy Awards nominations are set for March 15.

In a night full of first-time honorees, Beijing-born Chloé Zhao became the first woman of color named Best Director at the Golden Globe Awards. Zhao, a first-time Globe nominee, is just the second woman to win Best Director at the award show, 37 years after Barbra Streisand for 1983's "Yentl." She also took home Best Drama Movie for her film, "Nomadland." Chadwick Boseman's win for Best Actor in a Drama Movie was also his first nomination. With 188 million followers, Kardashian West is one of the most influential people on Instagram and support from her and other big names for the boycott saw Facebook shares slide in aftermarket trading late Tuesday.

The speech comes as Big Tech companies are under increasing scrutiny from governments on antitrust and privacy matters and abuse of their platforms. Several U.S. presidential candidates, led by Elizabeth Warren, have called for Facebook and other tech companies to be broken up. Facebook, YouTube and Google, Twitter and others they reach billions of people. Baron Cohen was particularly critical of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who recently promoted freedom of speech to students at Georgetown University. Representatives from Facebook, Google and YouTube did not respond to requests for comment.
