Don Schlitz, the storied country music songwriter known for “The Gambler,” died Thursday at a Nashville hospital.

The country music awards show promised that the genre’s biggest stars will be together in one room again for the first time since the COVID-19 outbreak started. Lambert, the leading nominee with seven nods including entertainer of the year, will perform “Settling Down" from her album of the year nominated record ”Wildcard."

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Trailblazing country music star Charley Pride will get a lifetime achievement award at the CMA Awards in November. 1 hits between the 1960s and 1980s, with songs like “Kiss An Angel Good Mornin'” and “Is Anybody Goin' to San Antone.”Pride, 82, will accept the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award on the CMA Awards on Nov. 11 on ABC. Pride was named CMA Entertainer of the year in 1971 and won male artist of the year in 1971 and 1972. He has three Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2000. Other recipients of the award include Nelson, Kenny Rogers, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton and Kris Kristofferson.

The CMA Awards will be all about the ladies this year! On Monday morning, the Country Music Association announced that Carrie Underwood would host the annual music awards show. The nine-time CMA Awards winner will be joined by special guest hosts Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire. Its an incredible honor to welcome Carrie, Reba and Dolly to the CMA Awards stage this year, CMA Chief Executive Officer Sarah Trahern says in the release. The 2019 CMA Awards will air live on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 8 p.m.
