In case you're unfamiliar with MS, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society describes it as an immune-mediated disease in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks myelin in the central nervous system. Though less common, there are even more symptoms: speech problems, swallowing problems, tremors, seizures, breathing problems and hearing loss. Selma Blair revealed a new appearance on Friday after completing a "banner day" of treatment for her multiple sclerosis. The actress, who has been candid about her life with the condition, opened up again to her follows in an emotional Instagram post. Sharing a photo of herself in the hospital, she showed her shaved head and the new walking bike that helps her get around. "Today is a banner day," Blair wrote. Blair first spoke about her diagnosis in an Instagram post in October, writing, "I am disabled.

The single mom of 8-year-old Arthur said longtime friends have rallied around her, including her "Cruel Intentions" costar Sarah Michelle Gellar and actress Jaime King. Blair, 47, went public last October with her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, which affects the central nervous system. Blair said Gellar started a meal train in which other stars provide meals for Blair and her son.
