Kershaw stops steal of home, hands Dodgers 3-2 Series lead
โI think a lot of credit goes to what heโs been able to do in this World Series for us.โKershaw even prevented the Rays from stealing the tying run. Kershawโs formidable resume has lacked two of the most satisfying achievements: a win deep in the World Series and a championship ring. โKersh, a lot of credit goes to him for what weโve been able to do in this World Series,โ Treinen said. Provided a 3-0 lead, Kershaw allowed Tampa Bay to pull within a run in the third when Kiermaier singled, Yandy Dรญaz tripled on a ball down the right-field line that skipped past Betts and Arozarena singled. He sets records with nine postseason homers allowed and three wild pitches in a Series game, tying a mark with two wild pitches in an inning.
In Joctober, Pederson does it all for Dodgers
(AP Photo/Tony Gutierrez)Joc Pederson is the guy the Los Angeles Dodgers didnโt need or want โ until October. Los Angeles is one win from its first World Series championship since 1988. The left-handed slugger also homered in the Dodgers' losing efforts in the 2017 and 2018 World Series. โIt felt pretty simple.โAfter the Dodgers shelled out big bucks to trade for Mookie Betts and David Price in February, they nearly traded Pederson to the rival Los Angeles Angels. He's hitting .400 in the World Series, second on the team to red-hot Corey Seager, who's batting .471.

Bellinger back in CF for LA with roof closed for Game 5
Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Cody Bellinger celebrates their win against the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 3 of the baseball World Series Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, in Arlington, Texas. The roof will be closed Sunday night because of dreary conditions and an increasing chance of rain into the night. LEADING OFF: Dodgers turn to Jansen, bullpen for Game 2
A look at what's happening around the majors Wednesday:___BULLPEN SAVEDThe Dodgers were so good in Game 1 of the World Series, they helped themselves for Game 2. Top relievers Kenley Jansen, Blake Treinen and Brusdar Graterol should all be fresh for a bullpen game against Tampa Bay after they weren't needed in an 8-3 win Tuesday. Jansen has more blown saves (three) than conversions (two) in two previous World Series and also struggled this fall, but he seemed to have himself righted by the end of the NLCS. Manager Kevin Cash โ uncharacteristically slow to pull starter Tyler Glasnow in Game 1 โ also has fresh arms in the bullpen. After separating his troubled right shoulder while bumping forearms celebrating his go-ahead homer in NLCS Game 7, the Dodgers slugger touched feet with teammates after going deep in the World Series opener Tuesday.

Glasnow wilts, can't stay with Kershaw as Rays drop Game 1
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow leaves the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers during the fifth inning in Game 1 of the baseball World Series Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020, in Arlington, Texas. Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash might have waited a smidge too long to go to his bullpen in Game 1 of the World Series. โI felt a little weird in the beginning, made the adjustment I think in that third inning and started to feel pretty good,โ Glasnow said. When he finally pulled Glasnow, Cash was boxed in because he needed lefty reliever Ryan Yarbrough to face the left-handed Bellinger, who popped out. โWe didnโt do ourselves any favors with the walks,โ Cash said.

Kiermaier was still dealing with a sore left wrist after getting hit by a 99 mph fastball in Game 3 of the AL Championship Series against Houston.
Few fans, masked umps, muted celebrations for World Series
Buzz figures to be dampened, with attendance down to about 11,000 in the smallest crowd for a Series game since roughly 1909. The Rays arrived in Dallas on Monday after playing the AL Division Series and AL Championship Series at empty Petco Park in San Diego. Iโm super thankful for that.โKershaw, a 32-year-old left-hander with three Cy Young Awards and an MVP trophy, is 175-76 in the regular season but 11-12 in the postseason, including 1-2 in the World Series. โJust being able to be a normal person again.โThis will be the first World Series entirely at one ballpark since 1944 between the Cardinals and Browns at Sportsmanโs Park in St. Louis โ and the fourth overall. โThey didnโt make it to the World Series on accident,โ Dodgers star Mookie Betts said.
Kershaw's latest World Series chance with Dodgers near home
None of those were followed by lifting the World Series trophy. But the 32-year-old ace lefty has a losing record (11-12) in the postseason โ and Los Angeles hasn't won a World Series since 1988. California-born Tyler Glasnow, a 27-year-old right-hander who grew up watching the early part of Kershaw's career, starts Tuesday night for the Tampa Bay Rays in their first World Series game since 2008. 22 โ or for the Dodgers' series at the new $1.2 billion Globe Life Field at the end of August. โ His World Series debut in 2017 included 11 strikeouts while allowing one run over seven innings to win Game 1 at home against the Astros.

Springer, Altuve homer to keep Astros alive in ALCS
Beating the Tampa Bay Rays three more times to reach the World Series won't be easy, but the Astros believe they can do it. With Altuve atoning for his poor defense in this series, the Astros finally got their offense going after being pushed to the brink of a sweep. The Rays remain one win from advancing to the World Series for the second time in franchise history. Altuve hit a homer in the first and an RBI double in the third for a 2-0 lead. It was the third home run of the postseason for Springer, the MVP of the 2017 World Series.

(AP Photo/Ashley Landis)SAN DIEGO โ Kevin Kiermaier and the Tampa Bay Rays โ with big assists from two former Padres who know Petco Park's outfield well โ are one win from the second World Series berth in franchise history. โWeโve played just tremendous defense all season long,โ Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash said. Kiermaier, the longest-tenured Tampa Bay player, said it was โan amazing feelingโ to be so close to going to the Fall Classic. Wendle lined a single off third baseman Alex Bregman's glove to give Tampa Bay a 2-1 lead. Paredes hit Kiermaier on the hand to load the bases and then grazed Willy Adames on the pinkie with a pitch to bring in another run.
LEADING OFF: Down 0-2 in NLCS, Dodgers turn to Urรญas
Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw was scratched from his scheduled Game 2 start Tuesday due to back spasms. The team still expects he'll be able to pitch later in the series, but it will be Urรญas in Game 3 against Braves rookie Kyle Wright. Urรญas, already pitching in his fourth postseason, was the winner in relief in the Game 3 clincher last Thursday against San Diego during the Division Series. There have been 14 teams take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven NLCS, and all have gone on to win the pennant. Heโll pitch in AL Championship Series Game 4 against Houston on four daysโ rest.
LEADING OFF: Altuve, shaky Astros in 2-0 hole vs Rays
Iโm sure heโll do that.โThe Astros have also had a lousy go with runners on base. THE KID AND THE ACEOff to an impressive start in his first postseason, rookie Ian Anderson tries to give Atlanta a 2-0 lead in the NL Championship Series when he faces Dodgers star Clayton Kershaw. CHANGE OF SOXAfter ending a 12-year playoff drought, the Chicago White Sox are looking for a new manager.
