Pitts puts on show at Florida’s pro day for NFL evaluators
(AP Photo/John Raoux, File)GAINESVILLE, Fla. – There was no shortage of Kyle Pitts highlights at Florida’s pro day Wednesday, from his measurables to his moves to even his mindset. It was a refresher course for anyone who watched the versatile tight end play last season. Pitts and several teammates — most notably quarterback Kyle Trask, cornerback Marco Wilson and receivers Kadarius Toney and Trevon Grimes — worked out for talent evaluators from 31 of 32 NFL teams. AdIt’s still entirely possible for Pitts to be the highest-drafted tight end in the modern era (since 1970). “He’s a different bird than what a traditional tight end has been or certainly has been when I played,” said Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell, a tight end who played 11 NFL seasons.
AP source: Jags trade oft-injured Oliver to Ravens for pick
A person familiar with negotiations says the Jacksonville Jaguars have traded oft-injured tight end Josh Oliver, a 2019 third-round draft pick who has been limited to four games, to the Baltimore Ravens for a conditional pick in 2022. The person said the pick will become a seventh-rounder if Oliver makes Baltimore's 53-man roster this year. New coach Urban Meyer vowed to completely revamp Jacksonville's tight end room, but he failed to land any of the top guys available in free agency. Jacksonville added run-blocking specialist Chris Manhertz (two years, $7.25 million) in free agency and re-signed James O'Shaughnessy. They have five of the top 65 picks in next month's draft, and a tight end is almost guaranteed to be one of them.
Analysis: Wentz, Elliott provide little bang for buck
Wentz was paid more than $39 million in cash this season and had a cap hit of $18.6 million. The Eagles now have to decide what to do with Wentz, who has a cap hit of more than $34 million next season. RB EZEKIEL ELLIOTT: The Cowboys gave Elliott a $90 million, six-year extension before reaching a deal with quarterback Dak Prescott. Elliott is coming off the least productive season of his career with 979 yards and six TDs while getting paid nearly $11 million for a team that finished 6-10. But Green had just 47 catches for 523 yards in 16 games, providing little value for his big salary.
AP Source: Wentz needs time to think about future in Philly
(AP Photo/Derik Hamilton)PHILADELPHIA – Carson Wentz needs time away to think about his future with the Philadelphia Eagles and there's hope his relationship with the team won’t end in a divorce, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on Tuesday. Wentz also hasn’t discussed his future with team officials yet, according to the person who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because it’s a private matter. Carson Wentz doesn’t want to be a backup quarterback,” said Zach Ertz, one of Wentz’s closest friends on the team. The Eagles would absorb a significant cap hit of $33.8 million in dead money on the 2021 cap if they trade Wentz before March 19. Wentz started every game in 2019 and helped the Eagles win the NFC East with an excellent four-game stretch in December.

Dallas can overtake Washington (6-9) with a win at the New York Giants and a Washington loss to the Eagles on the final weekend of the regular season. The Giants (5-10) can get in by beating the Cowboys if Washington loses. UP NEXTPhiladelphia has Dallas' fate in its hands at home against Washington in the regular-season finale.
Doug Pederson makes it clear he wants to stay in Philly
“I don’t want out of Philly,” Pederson told The Associated Press on Tuesday. Despite a dismal 4-9-1 record and a quarterback controversy, the Eagles are still in the race for the NFC East title. It’s all about getting into the tournament.”Injuries have forced Pederson to shuffle his offensive line unit, using 13 different combinations in 14 games. Under Pederson, the Eagles are 11-2 in games they must win or be eliminated from the playoffs or contention. Whomever ends up taking the snaps in 2021, Pederson will be ready to coach them.
Murray, Hopkins lead Cardinals past Eagles 33-26
Hopkins and his huge hands had a season-high 169 yards receiving — including a spectacular 20-yard touchdown catch for the go-ahead score — and the Cardinals improved their playoff position by beating the Philadelphia Eagles 33-26 on Sunday. The Cardinals are in third place in their division behind the Rams and Seahawks and would currently be the No. Murray threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns, while Hurts responded with 177 yards passing and three touchdowns. The Cardinals also missed a great opportunity when Hopkins fumbled at the Eagles 8 after catching a short pass from Murray. The Eagles' second touchdown was set up by Murray's costly fumble at the Arizona 21-yard line.

The victory total will increase after the Eagles (1-4-1) and Giants (1-5) meet Thursday night, unless they tie. The Giants are coming off their first win under coach Joe Judge. But Elliott has hit all of his field goals under 50 yards this season and 89.9% in his career.

Also, Giants cornerback Darnay Holmes suffered a neck injury in the game.
