USA Basketball is a step closer to choosing the team that will play in this summer’s rescheduled Tokyo Olympics, releasing the names Thursday of 57 players who are part of the pool to fill the squad. It’s also already drawing major interest from some NBA stars who have yet to taste Olympic gold. USA Basketball will pare the list to a 12-person Olympic team by early summer. Family issues outside bubble calling some NBA players home
The key is can we finish, said Clippers coach Doc Rivers, Austin Rivers father. Whether it be a family problem, a kid problem, a wife problem, anything, there are issues that come in these guys life. Doc Rivers said in a weird way, there can be a positive to seeing players dealing with various issues. I think in a good way in this, the public actually sees that the NBA players actually are human and they do have regular life issues going on, the Clippers coach said. The problem is usually with the life issues you can come back to the team and play the next day.

Court filing alleges $400K paid to Williamson family in '18
Prime Sports Marketing and company president Gina Ford filed a lawsuit last summer in a Florida state court, accusing Williamson and the agency now representing him of breach of contract. That came a week after Williamson filed his own lawsuit in a North Carolina federal court to terminate a five-year contract with Prime Sports after moving to Creative Artists Agency LLC. He had recently contacted Ford then provided the affidavit last week outlining interactions with MMG and Williamsons family, according to one of the filings. They had also raised questions about housing for Williamsons family during his Duke career in a separate filing in North Carolina. A Florida appeals court last month granted a stay to pause the proceedings there, shifting the focus to the North Carolina case.

Ford and Prime Sports responded by suing in federal court in Florida for damages related to breach of contract by Williamson and tampering by his CAA agents. The questions reference Williamsons mother and step-father as well as apparel companies Nike which outfits the Blue Devils team and Adidas. Schoenfeld also referred to a previous statement that the school has reviewed Williamsons eligibility and found no concerns.
